On April 30, the event “Route to the Future: The Path to Smart Territories” took place, focusing on the future of connected and autonomous mobility in Portugal. The event was hosted by Ubiwhere, a participant in the project consortium, which inaugurated the Route 25 CCAM Open Lab, an innovative facility dedicated to the collaborative development of mobility-focused technologies.

Located in Aveiro, the Route 25 CCAM Open Lab will serve as a hub for developing technologies aimed at more autonomous, intelligent, interoperable, and inclusive mobility. This unique laboratory includes a 5G-CCAM testing chamber and a 5G Command, Control, and Teleoperation cockpit. These are now available for feasibility studies, proof of concept testing, and iterative validation of technological solutions, all designed to transform mobility standards in Portugal. Currently, four Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions are under development in the lab.

The event “Route to the Future: The Path to Smart Territories” featured the participation of mobility experts, including Paula Teles, Founder and CEO of mpt® – Mobility and Territorial Planning. The program also included a dedicated panel on the Route 25 project, with presentations from consortium members such as Capgemini and Ubiwhere. Participants engaged in a forward-looking discussion about the future of connected and autonomous mobility, exploring innovations and challenges that will shape transportation in the coming years.

During the event, the CCAM Open Lab Declaration of Principles was signed, establishing a joint vision for collaboration in Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility. This declaration formalized a partnership between Ubiwhere, Ílhavo City Council represented by Mayor João Campolargo, and Fundão City Council represented by Mayor Paulo Fernandes.
